What makes Quest Overseas unique is our commitment to our projects over the long term. Over ten years we are proud to have only worked on 14 projects across Africa and South America highlighting our dedication to them.
We ask all our team members to make a significant contribution to our voluntary projects; funds that not only cover the costs of each project phase, but includes money to be available for the rest of the year when we are not ‘on site’.
So where does your money go and is it really going to those who need it?
If you were to join Quest Overseas on our Malawi Orphans and Community Project we would ask you to pay £1465 for a four week project (not including flights or insurance).
Before you even arrive £300 (over 20%) has already gone directly to a school scholarship fund and so every volunteer can start the project in the knowledge that they have personally sponsored a Malawian child through Secondary School over the next five years. On top of this money goes to fully paying for the project (last summer the money built a two classroom school), including all local labour (cooks, guards, builders, drivers, co-ordinators etc), materials and as well as all transport, accommodation etc. We also forward a donation to The Joshua Orphan Care Centre for long term costs.
There is a link for the cost breakdown available on every project listing across our site.
So when you compare organisations and some are offering...
‘8% funding development projects’ or
‘10% going to the Foundation!’, or
‘a direct contribution of £150 goes into our charity’
...remember that for one of our summer projects over 20% goes directly to helping educate Malawian children, before we even start to consider the money that is going to funding the project that you are working on as well!
That is why we are unique and we're proud of it.
