What’s the booking procedure?
Firstly, we ask you to fill in an application form so that we have your details – this does not commit you to anything, it is simply to help us to help you in addition to reserving you a place on your chosen trip. The application forms link is available on all of our trip information pages and here. After we have received this, we will invite you to come in for one of our open afternoons or if you live too far away, we will book you in for an informal phone interview or online webinar. This is so that we can get to know a little about you, be sure you have chosen the best trip for you and so that you know what to expect from your time overseas. The final stage is to complete a health form, sign our terms & conditions and send these in to us with a non-refundable (but exchangeable) deposit of £250 to guarantee your place.
How many others will be in my group?
It depends on the trip, we can answer this when you’ve chosen where you are going and on what date. However, as a guide, gap year groups are normally between 8-16 people.
Are there always showers, toilets and electricity?
In a way, yes. Facilities are always basic, for example your shower may come in the form of a bucket of water, your toilet as a hole in the ground and electricity in limited amounts from a generator. Please don’t worry about this though, you soon get used to it and you will definitely have privacy for washing and going to the toilet! In most cases you will have access to nicer facilities on weekends away that are part of your trip.
What do I need to bring?
Our secure pre-departure zone details all the kit you will need for your trip and advises on suitable clothing. You will be provided with login details once you have paid your deposit. We also have training weekends where leaders will go through kit that is required and show you examples, so don’t go out buying everything you think you need just yet!
Will I need a Visa?
In South America, as long as you have a British passport (or almost any EU passport) then there are no Visa requirements for any of the countries into which you go with Quest Overseas. When you enter a country, the stamp you receive from immigration allows you to stay in that country for up to 90 days.
Do I need any injections?
Afraid so! Quest Overseas keeps up to date with the latest recommendations on all medical considerations relating to your time with us, which we pass on to you in good time before your departure overseas.
