TOTAL Cost £4680
£680 - Donated to the project - 4 weeks
This is a significant amount compared to many other operators and ensures that our projects survive in the long-term, after you have returned home. This can broken down into the following:
Short term:
- Food for all the animals and volunteers.
- Accommodation.
- All on the ground transport.
- Project Materials for all project activities such as the tools, cement, chain link wire, aluminium poles, and bricks, needed to a puma enclosure or vet clinic.
- Stocking of vets clinic to ensure all animals are immunised and healthy.
- Local skilled staff wages for all project work.
- Local wages for lady to provide cooking, cleaning.
Medium term commitment:
- Maintenance and upkeep of project over the next year i.e. funds to pay for local staff to maintain trails made for jaguars and pumas, and repair enclosures.
- Upkeep of animals throughout the year. To ensure that they have enough to eat, and are healthy.
Long term commitment:
- Annual payment for purchase of rainforest land at Ambue Ari to ensure the long term security of the sanctuary and the animals.
£1000 - Language Phase - 3 weeks:
- Language course, tuition in small groups catered specifically to whatever level you're at
- Full board and accomodation in your team's exclusive hostel
- Weekend trips to Uyuni Salt Flats and Potosi Silver Mines
- Activities - museums, visits to local prison, international football, Chiva, local markets etc
- Transport from language phase to project phase
£2020 - Expedition Phase - 6 weeks
- Transport from Project phase to Expedition phase
- Accomodation for 42 nights - hostels, camping, nights with families etc
- All food 126 meals
- White water rafting, Inca Trail, National Park entrance fees, local guides
- Transport - flights, buses, boats, trains
- Expedition equipment
- Budgeting and accounting with foreign and financial exchange expenses
- Risk assessment, emergency contigency planning and medical evacuation consultations
- End of expedition party and printing of individual team T-shirts
- Repatriation assistance and reserve fund
£1000 - Quest Overseas
- Project/Expedition Leader wages, visas, international flight and insurance
- Project/Expedition Assistant wages, visas, international flight and insurance
- Quest Overseas Doctor for 24hr medical advice and support
- Expedition equipment
- Back-up medical support, communications, safety equipment and emergency contingency planning
- Two day training weekend (activities, food, accommodation)
- Quest Overseas T-shirt and brochure
- Year round planning and development of project - including assessing aims and objectives for the project in the short, medium and long term
- Project preparation with on-ground project assessment and risk assessment by South America Manager
- Project write up, evaluation, budget analysis and submission of papers
- End of project debrief and student assessments
- Liasing with flight agents and insurance companies
- Quest Overseas UK staff costs
- Selection costs associated with volunteers (interview/open afternoon, support when signing up)
- Selection costs associated with Project/Expedition Leader
- Marketing and general administration costs
- Office rental and costs
N.B. An emergency reserve fund is also kept aside to cover costs incurred in any unforeseen circumstances, which would not be covered by personal travel insurance. Where this is not utilised, the funds are fed back into the company to develop future expeditions.
