We recieve a lot of great feedback from volunteers and project partners, but the Brazil Amazon Project is a new site for us. However, we have included some feedback on the past volunteer's time in Rio. Just contact us if you'd like to hear from any of our past volunteers...
The Language Phase in Rio.
Rio was brilliant! We all settled in well at the Colinas Hostel in Ipanema and loved being in the middle of everything. Learning Portuguese was interesting, very difficult but we all enjoyed our lessons.
Capoeira lessons were a definite highlight of the language phase. We had great fun practising our moves. We also adored some brilliant afternoons on the beach.
Lapa in central Rio was a group favourite at night, featuring Samba in the street, live music everywhere, all night dancing and the charm of the steps of Lapa was unforgettable!!
The sightseeing was amazing: Christ the Redeemer, The forest, Santa teresa and a lovely sunset at Sugarloaf. We also were treated to a V.I.P night at the Sampa Palace of Salgueiro and a pre carnaval rehearsal of the Monobloco batucada at a club in Lapa. Both amazing and completely different to anything we had experienced - the drums were awesome!
In sumary, Rio was absolutely amazing and so much fun.
